A homeless mind.
The flames and smoke climbed out of every window / And disappeared with everything that you held dear / You shed not a single tear for the things that you didn't need / 'Cause you knew you were finally free

‘Why do youth attempt suicide?’

“Unlike adults, youth do not have the ability to think about life and life events in terms of the broader perspective or ‘big picture’. They tend to believe that all of the unhappiness they are feeling and experiencing will go on forever. Everything that is happening to them is in the ‘here and now’ and they can’t begin to think that there might be a brighter future just around the corner. They often don’t believe that anyone can help them, and they feel helpless and hopeless within their situation. They believe that they can either choose to live with the pain, or end it by ending their life. Unfortunately their ultimate decision could be fatal.” [Source]

So for Anthro/Socio/Psych class, we have to write a paper on a topic, and I chose teen suicide. Reading this, my ‘you don’t know anything’ ‘you can’t say that unless you’ve been there’ ’ “unlike adults”? wtf are you saying?’ teen side of me wants to say that, but, I think this is one of those harsh truths that needs to be accepted. Well, I think it’s true anyways, because it practically just picked out all the reasons I possibly had. Reading this though and having a probably ‘professional adult’ say it hurts the ego, I guess. But I think it helps, even a tad bit, to realize what the reason is for all the pain and sadness we had inside or why we felt that way…
